Bernstein Shur Welcomes Four Attorneys

Benjamin Dexter, Letson B. Douglass, Nicholas Higgins and Patrick Marass Join Firm

Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (October 30, 2018) – Bernstein Shur, a leading New England based law firm welcomed Benjamin Dexter, Letson B. Douglass, Nicholas Higgins and Patrick Marass as associates to its Portland, ME office.

Benjamin Dexter joins the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group as an associate. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Dexter was a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Joseph M. Jabar of the ME Supreme Judicial Court, as well as a judicial extern for the Hon. Kermit M. Lipez of the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law, magna cum laude and his B.A. from Bard College. He is admitted to practice in the state of ME and resides in Portland.

Letson Douglass joins the firm’s Energy and Environmental Practice Group as an associate. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Douglass worked on environmental issues in the non-profit and governmental sectors and served as a law clerk to the Hon. Thomas E. Humphrey of the ME Supreme Judicial Court. Douglass earned her J.D. from Vermont Law School, summa cum laude, and her B.A. from Colby College. She is admitted to practice in the state of ME and resides in South Portland.

Nicholas Higgins joins the firm’s Business Practice Group as an associate. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Higgins was a judicial extern for the Hon. Joseph N. Laplante, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and was Chief Notes Editor for the University of New Hampshire Law Review. He earned his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, summa cum laude, and his B.A. from the University of Southern ME. A graduate of the prestigious Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program, Higgins was admitted to practice in the state of New Hampshire upon graduation. He is also admitted to practice in the state of ME and resides in Cape Elizabeth.

Patrick Marass joins the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Energy and Environmental Practice Groups as an associate. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Marass was a legal intern with the Conservation Law Foundation and a law clerk for the Hon. Associate Justice Ellen A. Gorman at the ME Supreme Judicial Court. Marass earned his J.D. from Vermont Law School, summa cum laude, and both his B.A. and B.S., magna cum laude from the University of ME. He is admitted to practice in the state of ME and resides in South Portland.
