Bernstein Shur CEO and Shareholders join industry panels at inaugural Maine Law, Business & Society Summit

Chief Executive Officer Joan Fortin, Shareholder Asha Echeverria, and Shareholder Kate Knox will join several panels of industry professionals at the inaugural Maine Law, Business & Society Summit, hosted by the Maine State Bar Association and Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, on January 24-26.

From the use of artificial intelligence to the potential for data breaches, to preventing a #metoo incident to hiring and retaining a skilled and diverse workforce, Maine businesses and law firms will face many challenges in 2024. With these common concerns, the Maine State Bar Association and the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce are hosting the Maine Law, Business & Society Summit to convene the state’s lawyers and businesses to discuss a wide array of issues, identify ways we can collaborate for Maine’s future, and enjoy some networking, too.

Chief Executive Officer Joan Fortin will join a CEO Roundtable alongside Catharine MacLaren, Vice President of Talent & Diversity at Northern Light Health, and Alicia Walsh, Vice President of HR at cPort Credit Union, with moderator Abbie Yamamoto, Executive Director of Portland Adult Education.

Shareholder Asha Echeverria will moderate an expert panel on “DEI: Where Do We Go After the Harvard Decision? Law, Business & Society in a Post-Affirmative Action World.”

Shareholder Kate Knox will join an expert panel on “Legislation and the Maine Legislature: The Importance of Your Voice in Augusta” moderated by Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce President Quincy Hentzel.
