Bernstein Shur Announces Four New Shareholders

Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (Jan 01, 2020) – Bernstein Shur, a leading New England law firm, announced the selection of Ann Freeman, Sara Hellstedt, Lindsay Leone and Adam Prescott as Shareholders.

Ann Freeman is a member of the Labor and Employment and Municipal and Governmental Services Practice Groups. She advises both public and private sector clients on a wide variety of labor and employment matters, from navigating the complicated intersection of employment laws, advising on drug testing and marijuana in the workplace, conducting workplace investigations, negotiating labor contracts, representing clients before the ME Human Rights Commission and defending labor disputes before courts, arbitrators and state agencies. She earned her J.D. and M.S. in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School and resides in Portland, ME with her family.

Sara Hellstedt is a member of the Labor and Employment and Workplace and Campus Independent Investigations and Consulting Practice Groups. She has represented public and private education clients on a variety of matters, including discrimination complaints before the ME Human Rights Commission and the federal Office for Civil Rights. Hellstedt is also an experienced sexual misconduct investigator and provides consulting services and training on sexual misconduct issues to school clients across the country. She earned her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and resides in North Yarmouth, ME with her husband, three sons and a hound dog.

Lindsay Leone is a member of the Energy and Commercial and Governmental Finance Practice Groups, where she counsels governments, public and quasi-public authorities, educational institutions and other 501(c)(3)s in the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable debt. She also represents a variety of public and private entities on strategic project financings, public-private partnerships, and other economic development initiatives. In addition to her practice, Leone also serves as the firm’s Hiring Partner. She earned her J.D. from Boston University School of Law and resides in Cape Elizabeth, ME with her husband and young son.

Adam Prescott is a member of the Business Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group, where he has significant experience serving as counsel to both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy and related matters across a broad range of industries. In addition, he has represented clients in trial and appellate litigation in courts around the country regarding a broad array of bankruptcy and commercial disputes. Prescott also has experience representing clients in antitrust and competition matters, including advising clients on antitrust investigations and litigation, and on the antitrust implications of business practices. In the Spring of 2019, Prescott was an adjunct professor at the University of ME Law School, where he taught a course on litigation and electronic discovery practices. He earned his J.D. from William & Mary School of Law and resides in Scarborough, ME with his wife and daughter.
