Shareholder Lindsay Milne Elected to the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Board of Directors

Bernstein Shur Shareholder Lindsay Zahradka Milne has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), the nation’s largest association of bankruptcy professionals. This is the latest honor for Milne who, since joining ABI as a member in 2015, has received steady recognition in the form of awards and leadership appointments for her commitment to thought leadership in the bankruptcy profession and demonstrating the highest standards of achievement at work and in the community.

“We are extremely proud that Lindsay has been appointed to the ABI board,” said Robert J. Keach, Shareholder and Co-Chair of Bernstein Shur’s Business Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Group and past ABI President and Chairman of the ABI board. “The appointment is well-deserved and signals Lindsay’s arrival as a leader not only of ABI but within the restructuring community nationwide. She will do a great job on the ABI board.”

In 2018, ABI honored Milne on its “40 under 40” List for Emerging Leaders in Insolvency Practice, which includes attorneys from some of the nation’s most prestigious and well-known law firms. In 2021 and 2022, she served as the Education Director on the Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee, tasked with designing educational content in that subject area for ABI’s two national conferences, and as the Education Director for the ABI’s Northeast Bankruptcy Conference, which she co-chaired in 2023 and 2024. She was recently selected to Co-Chair the Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee for a two-year term beginning in 2024, where has overseen and guided ABI’s 11,000+ members on educational content about recoveries to unsecured creditors.

“I’m thrilled to join the ranks of those august members of the bankruptcy bar, academics, financial professionals and jurists who have led our profession since ABI’s founding,” said Milne. “I look forward to continuing to contribute to the profession’s advancement and thought leadership in all the ways ABI makes possible.”

As a Shareholder in Bernstein Shur’s Business Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group, Milne represents a broad array of corporate clients in matters including chapter 11 reorganizations, asset sales and acquisitions, out-of-court restructurings and liquidations, bankruptcy-related litigation, and appellate practice. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Lindsay worked in the Financial Restructuring group at Akin Gump in New York, where she advised borrowers, debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors, lenders, and ad-hoc groups of bondholders in connection with pre-filing negotiations and chapter 11 proceedings.
