Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with him.

Pawel is a trusted and tenacious litigator, advisor, and crisis response professional representing organizations in Maine, New Hampshire, and throughout New England. He brings over a decade of experience advising and aggressively defending organizational clients in a broad range of contexts. His diverse pool of clients has included retailers, hotels, restaurants, manufacturers, logistics companies, product distributors, technology companies, paper mills, property managers, residential care providers, non-profits, recreational centers, universities, and the United States Army, among others.

Pawel is adept at balancing the prevention, defense, and communications needs of organizations that frequently interact with the public.  His passion is in working closely with clients to develop clear answers and strategic approaches to meet organizational goals, especially in crisis situations.  Knowing firsthand the difference that a calm, focused, and credible presence can bring to tense and dynamic situations, Pawel thrives when people are watching and the pressure is on.

Pawel has tried dozens of jury cases and takes pride in helping his clients navigate complex wage and hour matters, regulatory investigations, discrimination claims, Title IX claims, union campaigns, negotiations, and grievances, and unfair labor practice charges, among other matters. Although he specializes in labor and employment litigation, Pawel also has a breadth of experience in cases large and small, including complex injury claims, transportation claims, and property management. Pawel has secured everything from murder convictions to defense verdicts and dismissals on behalf of both individual and organizational clients.

In addition to his civilian practice, Pawel serves part-time as a uniformed general counsel for the Maine Army National Guard, where he advises the command team on the variety of legal considerations that shape operations. Pawel previously served in a variety of roles on active duty in the United States Army JAG Corps, having lived and worked throughout the United States and overseas in Germany, Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia.  His military litigation practice focused on cases involving child victims, special victims, intimate partner violence, and homicide in both prosecution and defense roles.  He has tried over 50 felony cases to verdict and has been involved in investigating and litigating hundreds of others.

But that’s not all. Pawel is also very experienced in:

  • Litigating general liability and contract disputes
  • Negotiating collective bargaining agreements
  • Regulatory licensing and compliance in the alcoholic beverage, hospitality, and human services industries
  • Property management law

In his former life, Pawel was:

  • An associate at law firms in Portland, Boston, and Washington DC
  • A judge advocate with the United States Army JAG Corps
  • A reporter for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette
  • A barista, groundskeeper, truck driver, janitor, warehouse worker, dishwasher, and theater professional

When Pawel isn’t working, he is:

Spending time with his spouse, dog, and three children, finding ways to get on stage in theater productions, trying not to set his garage on fire with his latest building project, or spending time outside foraging, hiking, skiing, canoeing, and mountain biking.
