Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (February 20, 2020) – Bernstein Shur is proud to announce that the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) named attorney Arnold Macdonald as ILAP’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year. Recognized for his prodigious pro bono immigration work on behalf of ILAP clients, Macdonald has assisted five clients in immigration court within the past 15 months and has an additional case pending with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. ILAP presented the award to Macdonald at the ME Bar Association’s winter meeting on January 31 and recognized him at a volunteer appreciation event on February 10.

“The firm’s embrace of my work in this area is extraordinary,” said Macdonald. “The support for access to justice and civic engagement are truly core values of the firm, and I am proud to be part of that long-standing tradition.” Deeply committed to access to justice issues and pro bono work, Macdonald serves on the Board of Directors of ILAP and on the Development Committee of the ME Justice Foundation. Macdonald is a past President of the ME Justice Foundation, past member of the Board of Directors of ME Equal Justice Partners, and a former Chair of the Campaign for Justice.
