Bernstein Shur Welcomes Attorney Susan Duprey

Susan Duprey

Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced the hire of Susan Duprey to the firm’s Real Estate and Municipal Law Practice Groups. Susan joins Bernstein Shur in an Of Counsel capacity, and will work out of the firm’s Manchester, New Hampshire office. Duprey was formerly a shareholder for a large New Hampshire law firm and its managing partner between 1998 and 2005, where she directed that firm’s growth.

Susan is a highly-regarded real estate, zoning and land use attorney with more than 35 years of experience, specializing in obtaining approvals in difficult settings and for sensitive projects. She counsels and represents companies in obtaining local, state and federal governmental approvals to construct complex and multi-use real estate projects. Her success in her specialty stems in part from her experience as a former member of the Planning Board, Heritage Commission and City Council for the City of Concord.

Susan is a leader in the community, the Bar and in Republican politics, and has worked at a high level with numerous candidates for federal and state office. In 2011-2012, Susan served as Chief of Staff to Ann Romney during the Romney for President campaign, traveling nationally and advising Mrs. Romney on a range of issues. In 2014, Susan and her husband Steve were jointly recognized by the Daniel Webster Council – Boy Scouts of America as New Hampshire’s Citizens of the Year.

She has been recognized in Woodward & White’s Best Lawyers in America since 2007 and was named “Manchester Best Lawyer of the Year” in 2014 for her practice in Land Use and Zoning Law in Best Lawyers. She received the 2012 Outstanding Women in Business Award by New Hampshire Business Review, and was also named one of the 30 Most Powerful Women in New Hampshire by New Hampshire Editions Magazine. She currently sits on the boards of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Inc., the Daniel Webster Council, the NH State Council for the Arts, the Heifetz International Institute of Music, the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society and the advisory board of the Rudman Center for Policy and Justice at UNH Law. She is a past Board Chair of Heritage United Way and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

“We are thrilled to welcome Susan to Bernstein Shur,” said the firm’s CEO Pat Scully. “Susan is widely recognized as one of the top lawyers and community leaders in New Hampshire, with excellent ties to the legal, business and political communities. Her proven track record of securing approvals for complex real estate projects and strategic vision make her a tremendous addition to our real estate law team and firm. Susan will be a great asset to our clients, and we are pleased to have her join our growing office in New Hampshire.”

Duprey earned her JD from Northeastern University School of Law School and her BA from the Maxwell School of Political Science at Syracuse University. She is admitted to practice in the State of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She resides in Concord, New Hampshire with her husband, Steve. They have three grown sons, Sam, Thad and Luke.
