Bernstein Shur Welcomes Attorney Emily Gray Rice as Shareholder

Attorney Ranked in Top 250 Women in Litigation Joins Firm

Manchester, NH/Portland and Augusta, ME (August 27, 2012) – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced the addition of trial attorney Emily Gray Rice to the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and Business Law Practice Group’s litigation practice. Rice joined Bernstein Shur as a shareholder in the firm’s Manchester, New Hampshire office.

Rice is a highly skilled litigator who brings more than 25 years of experience in employment and business litigation law to Bernstein Shur. Prior to joining the firm, she was a shareholder with Orr & Reno in Concord, New Hampshire, where her successful litigation practice focused on the defense of professional liability, employment, commercial, business and media law matters; Rice also served as  counsel to New Hampshire’s only network television station, WMUR-TV. She is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and recognized by Chambers US: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for her work in employment law and general commercial litigation. In 2012, Rice was listed in Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation.

In addition to her work in private practice, Rice serves as a volunteer and leader in her community and the New Hampshire bar. Appointed by Governor John Lynch, Rice serves as the co-chair of the New Hampshire Judicial Selection Commission. She is the former chair of the board of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation and co-chaired New Hampshire’s Campaign for Legal Services. Rice also serves as a volunteer mediator and is an adjunct professor of law at the University of New Hampshire Law School.

Rice received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and her master’s degree in political science from Boston University. She is a member of the American Bar Association and a member of the mediation panels of the New Hampshire Superior Court, United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights.
