Bernstein Shur Names New Co-Chairs for Labor and Employment Practice Group

Herzog and McGintee to Lead Team  

Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (October 25, 2018) – Bernstein Shur, a leading New England law firm, announced the selection of Peter Herzog and Kai McGintee to serve as co-chairs of the firm’s growing Labor and Employment Practice Group.

Bernstein Shur’s Labor and Employment Practice Group is the largest of its kind in ME. The group is comprised of 17 attorneys and provides representation and counsel to employers throughout northern New England in all aspects of employment law and regulation, including education, health care, municipal law, financial services, IT and social services, distribution and retail. The group is ranked in Chambers USA® and US News-Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms.”

The group includes one of the most experienced and well-recognized teams of education attorneys in northern New England. The Education Practice Group serves as primary, outside counsel to nearly 20 colleges, universities, and private secondary schools. The group also includes the Workplace and Campus Title IX Investigation Team, whose members conduct neutral, external investigations for schools, employers and institutions throughout the country.

Peter Herzog is a shareholder who practices in all areas of employment law, providing counsel and representation to employers on issues regarding federal and state leave laws, wrongful termination, wage and hour laws, restrictive covenants, workplace harassment, discrimination, and other evolving labor and employment issues. Herzog earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, cum laude, and his B.A. from The George Washington University, magna cum laude.

Kai McGintee is a shareholder who primarily represents and advises higher education institutions and independent secondary schools. McGintee has extensive experience consulting on employment, discrimination and harassment issues, student affairs, faculty tenure, Title IX compliance and FERPA issues. She also founded and leads the firm’s Workplace and Campus Title IX Investigation Team. She is hired by institutions around the globe to serve as a neutral, external investigator in sensitive and high-profile sexual misconduct cases, and is a frequent speaker and commentator on the topic. McGintee earned her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law, magna cum laude and her B.A. from Davidson College.
