Bernstein Shur Litigation Practice Group Co-Chair Ned Sackman has been named Chair of the Copyright Law Committee for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
The Committee plays a central role in tracking and interpreting developments in copyright law for AIPLA’s membership. Its work includes monitoring significant judicial decisions, evaluating new regulations, and following the activities and initiatives of the US Copyright Office.
Currently, the Copyright Law Committee is focused on one of the most consequential issues in IP today: the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and copyright law. Sackman will help guide the Committee’s efforts to clarify emerging questions around authorship, training data, liability models, and the scope of protection in an AI-driven landscape.
In addition, the Committee is closely monitoring other significant developments in the field, including the US Supreme Court’s review of Cox Communications, Inc. v. Sony Music Entertainment, which will address internet service provider (ISP) liability for contributory infringement, as well as the continued evolution of the fair use doctrine in light of recent circuit-level decisions and shifting industry expectations.
Ned Sackman is the co-chair of Bernstein Shur’s Litigation Practice Group, where his practice focuses on IP, automotive, and commercial litigation. Learn more here.
