Lewis is an experienced bankruptcy attorney with significant first chair experience. Her practice will focus on business restructuring and insolvency proceedings, including chapter 11 reorganizations, asset sales and acquisitions, and bankruptcy-related litigation. Lewis was formerly an associate at Bernstein Shur from 2006 to 2013, and she will return as an of counsel attorney in the firm’s Portland, ME office.

Lewis was most recently an associate for a small law firm based in Southern and Central ME, where she represented consumer and small business debtors in creditor workouts and chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases. “We are proud to welcome Jessica back to Bernstein Shur,” said Robert Keach, Business Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Group Leader. “Jessica’s deep experience in chapter 11 matters provides our clients continued excellence and adds even more depth to our group. She is a valued addition to our firm and the restructuring team.”

Lewis earned her JD from Duquesne University School of Law and her BA from Bowdoin College, cum laude. She is admitted to practice in the state of ME and is a member of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the ME State Bar Association. Lewis resides in Cumberland, ME with her husband Christian and their two sons.
