Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with him.

A straight-shooting, disciplined former naval officer and present-day real estate attorney, Bill gets projects done on budget and on time. Throughout his career, Bill has helped major real estate developers realize large-scale commercial projects in the Greater Portland area and throughout the state of Maine. His skill set includes acquisitions, sales, development projects, entity formation, financing, and leasing. He currently heads up Bernstein Shur’s Massachusetts Real Estate Initiative, through which he has had a hand in many of Massachusetts’ high-tech and industrial corridor projects.

But developing large commercial projects is only one part of Bill’s industry expertise. Bill also serves as vice president of Monument Title Company, Bernstein Shur’s in-house title agency. And, as the firm’s exclusive First American Title Insurance Company agent for Massachusetts, Bill is also able to write title insurance in that state.

But that’s not all. Bill is also very experienced in:

  • General business law
  • Aviation transactional law

In his former life, Bill was:

  • A decorated US Naval officer
  • A business planner and cost analyst for the NASA Space Station
  • Editor-in-chief of the Houston Journal of International Law
  • Captain of the undefeated 1977–1978 cross country team at Austin Preparatory School
  • A Junior Achievement classroom volunteer for almost two decades
  • A member of the board of directors and Nominating Committee Chair of the World Affairs Council of Maine
  • A member of the board of directors and a player agent for the Falmouth Little League
  • A coach and referee for local youth soccer, ice hockey, and baseball/softball programs

When Bill isn’t working, he is…

A committed and caring member of his community. He works with the Legal Services Team for Northern New England US Coast Guard Sector in South Portland. Bill also serves on the boards of directors of Family Ice, a nonprofit ice skating facility in Falmouth, and Congregation Bet Ha’am in South Portland. He whiles away the long Maine winters by going snowboarding and playing adult league ice hockey; when the weather’s nicer, he also finds time to golf, garden, and read.
