POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the financial operations of the firm, ensuring internal controls, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role supervises a team of four finance professionals and is responsible for maintaining core financial systems and workflows. This is a hands-on management position that supports both daily operations and long-term process improvements aligned with the firm’s strategic financial goals. The Finance Manager provides actionable financial insights to inform business decisions and plays a pivotal role in shaping data-driven operational strategies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cash receipts, and month/year-end close processes.
  • Supervise four Finance Department personnel: Senior Accounting Specialist, two Billing Specialists, and AP/IOLTA Specialist.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review of financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Analyze and improve financial systems, workflows, and reporting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with firm standards.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support tactical and strategic decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Function as primary custodian for firm funds and ensure integrity in all financial transactions.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate team members to support a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Ensure consistent and proper use of the firm’s 3E financial and time/billing system; recommend improvements where needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and special financial initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate team efficiency, financial accuracy, and compliance standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial operations, including implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven supervisory experience, with a history of successfully leading and developing finance staff.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment.
  • Strong in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; strong technical aptitude for financial systems.
  • Experience with the 3E ERP system is a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting tools or business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
  • Hands-on management style with an initiative-taking approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner with colleagues at all levels of the firm and with clients.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to evaluating and refining workflows, policies, and systems.
