Energy & Environmental / Municipal Legal Assistant
A great opportunity to join a dynamic law firm, and to support the Energy, Environmental & Municipal Practice Groups in Portland, Maine. Interested candidates should be knowledgeable in administrative law, preferably energy, environmental and/or municipal law. This legal assistant will assist attorneys with permitting renewable energy projects, energy regulatory proceedings, large scale purchase and sale transactions involving energy assets, property tax projections and administrative litigation, and administration of land use regulations. Candidates should be energetic and eager to put their experience to work immediately. All members of these practice groups work closely as a team to coordinate excellent work product and maintain superior client relationships. This position is located in the beautiful Old Port area of Portland, Maine.
Candidates must be well-organized and attentive to detail, be able to work independently, and have excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and priorities to ensure deadlines are met. Candidates should have experience in administrative litigation and current knowledge of how legal transactions are structured and documented. He/she/they Must be able to communicate with all levels of firm and client staff and must have strong technical skills, including high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn the firm’s document management and billing systems. Intelligence, initiative and a willingness to learn are necessary to succeed in the position and evidence of these qualities will outweigh lack of specific experience. This is an ideal job for a talented person who wishes to use his or her skills in a high-level legal practice.
Education: 2 – 5 years of experience, in the legal, municipal or energy field. Superior Microsoft Office application experience required. Prior law firm and DMS experience a plus but not required.
