POSITION OVERVIEW

Bernstein Shur, a New England-based law firm that advises clients across the U.S. and around the world, is seeking an attorney with one to three years of experience to join our Investigations & Resolutions Practice Group either in the Portland, Maine office or remote.  This team of attorneys is trained to conduct neutral, external investigations for a broad range of clients including educational institutions, companies, non-profit organizations, and state and local governmental entities. This is a writing-intensive role, oftentimes involving highly sensitive complaints including reports of sexual misconduct, sexual assault, Title IX violations, discrimination, harassment, and bullying.

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one year of experience conducting, or assisting with, investigations as an unbiased and neutral party, preferably with experience in Title IX or workplace investigations.
  • Superior writing skills and an ability to thoroughly and neutrally analyze and explain complex investigations;
  • Emotional intelligence and knowledge of trauma-informed interview practices;
  • An ability to work independently and simultaneously on multiple projects; and
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate: All Bernstein Shur employees are required, as a condition of employment, to show proof of their Covid-19 vaccination or their eligibility for an exemption under the firm’s vaccination policy.

Applicants should hold a J.D. degree. This role can be based in a remote work location.
