Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with her.

Naomi Butterfield is a seasoned labor and employment attorney and litigator who counsels public and private sector employers on how to stay ahead of legal risks and maintain productive, legally compliant workplaces. A straight shooter and trusted advisor, Naomi focuses on helping clients navigate complex employment issues with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset—always working to understand the goals behind the challenge and find a path forward that works.

Naomi’s practice includes advising on performance management, employment agreements, separation agreements and union-related matters in both unionized and non-union environments. She regularly appears before federal and state courts as well as regulatory agencies, including New Hampshire’s Public Employee Labor Relations Board (PELRB) and its federal counterparts. Naomi is particularly well-versed in employment issues in the education sector, including faculty retention, executive contracts, and school governance.

Naomi’s approach is rooted in being a lawyer who builds relationships with her clients, understanding each client’s unique context, and delivering grounded, actionable legal advice. In addition to her legal practice, she is active in the nonprofit community serving on the board of trustees for Mill Falls Montessori Charter School, and formerly as a trustee of Franklin Pierce University and on the board of directors for the Human Resources Association of Greater Concord, the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund and the Amoskeag Rowing Club.

But that’s not all. Naomi is also very experienced in:

  • Conducting workplace and Title IX Investigations
  • Municipal employment and labor matter with a special client niche providing counsel to public libraries
  • Advising school districts and institutions of higher education on a wide range of legal matters, including investigations

In her former life, Naomi was:

  • Assistant Attorney General in the Regulatory Units of the New Hampshire and Colorado Offices of the Attorney General
  • Legal Counsel for the New Hampshire Community College System
  • Engaged in planning events at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics
  • Rowing coach for junior and masters’ athletes

When Naomi isn’t working, she is…

Skiing, rowing, hiking with her dogs, solving the daily Wordle, or cheering on her kids in their many pursuits.
