Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with her.
Kristen understands exactly how complex harassment and discrimination allegations impact educational institutions because she’s been in the thick of it—Kristen acted as both a civil rights investigator and a Title IX coordinator at two large, private universities. Throughout her experience conducting harassment and discrimination investigations, Kristen has handled high profile matters and gained valuable experience with crisis management, and she’s known for keeping calm and maintaining neutrality. Easy to talk to, Kristen is approachable and clear, with a knack for boiling down complex policies and procedures into easily digestible parts—whether she’s working with senior-level administrators, tenured faculty, coaches, or students.
As Title IX coordinator, Kristen advised faculty and staff on their Title IX obligations and ensured students understood their options. She oversaw and conducted neutral, thorough investigations of formal complaints, facilitating informal resolutions when appropriate. Even more—Kristen goes above and beyond for her profession, colleagues, and clients, and is a natural leader: while on campus, when the Title IX regulatory landscape changed, she convened a task force to draft a new policy. She fostered such strong relationships with campus constituents that people came to her for help with issues of all kinds. All who know Kristen will tell you that if she can’t help directly, she’ll connect you with someone who can.
Kristen has extensive Title IX coordinator and investigator training through the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). She is trained to serve as a hearing advisor and to facilitate informal resolutions.
But that’s not all. Kristen is also very experienced in:
- Developing and conducting Title IX training
- Serving on behavioral intervention/threat assessment teams
- Ensuring Clery, VAWA, Title VI, and Section 504 compliance
- Reviewing elementary and secondary school policies for Title IX compliance
- Navigating the federal legislative and rulemaking processes
In her former life, Kristen was:
- Title IX Coordinator at Marquette University
- Title IX & Equity Investigator at Stanford University
- Federal Relations Counsel for the American Association for Justice
- Counsel for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee
- Attorney-Advisor for the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights
When Kristen isn’t working, she is:
Running long distances, following the happenings in Congress, cheering on the Milwaukee Bucks, and exploring parks with her husband, kids, and rescue pup.
