Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with him.
Ian understands the value of providing clients with practical advice and works hard to present solutions rather than isolated problems. His experience ranges from working with large, multi-national corporations to small family-owned businesses. He takes pride in being able to communicate effectively across a wide variety of business structures and industries.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ian worked in banking and lending, which gave him a front seat to working with businesses in the “real world.” Today, Ian brings that experience to bear on his deals with complex contract negotiations, commercial finance, and business acquisitions of all shapes and sizes. In particular, Ian has helped a number of international companies with business interests in the US navigate applicable law to achieve their goals. Ian’s analytical approach helps him spot the relevant legal issues in any given transaction and view them from his clients’ perspective—all while never losing sight of the big picture.
But that’s not all. Ian is also very knowledgeable about:
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Corporate governance
- Entity formation
- Representations of utilities
- Solar transactions
- Commercial lending
In his former life, Ian was:
- An associate at a local Portland law firm
- A summer clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review
When Ian isn’t working, he is…
Playing guitar, hiking with his ex-racing greyhound Atari and unabashedly cheering on the Red Wings.
