Dedicated. Passionate. Poised.

Olivia Shaw is an associate in the Immigration Law group, where she advises employers on obtaining temporary work authorization and permanent residence for their employees.

Olivia supports business clients across industries, with particular experience in health care immigration and the permanent labor certification process. She has a passion for helping navigate the complex landscape of business immigration.

I love the fast pace of business immigration, and the unique nature of each case. I aim to help our clients feel comfortable and informed during the filing and adjudication of their petitions.

What she's great at

Olivia brings a strong foundation in business immigration developed through years of working closely with Immigration Law Practice Group Chair Mike Murray, as well as hands-on experience in humanitarian immigration with the Maine Law Refugee and Human Rights Clinic and the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP). During her time with the Maine Law Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, she worked directly with clients to prepare affirmative and defensive asylum petitions, organized evidentiary records for asylum cases, and represented a client in Immigration Court—experience that sharpened her attention to detail and case-building skills. Olivia even participated in a binational coalition providing educational outreach for individuals temporarily residing in Mexico City who were interested in pursuing various immigration pathways in the United States.

She supports business clients in a variety of industries with:

  • Health care immigration for hospitals, health systems, and medical practices
  • Physician immigration, including various types of J-1 Waivers (Conrad 30, HHS, SCRC, NBRC, Persecution, Hardship)
  • Extraordinary ability visas and green cards (O-1, EB-1, EB-2, National Interest Waivers)
  • Employment-based visas for nurses and allied health professionals
  • Business immigration strategies for growing and multinational companies
  • H-1B, L-1, E-1/E-2, TN visas, and H-1B alternatives
  • Employer-sponsored green cards, including PERM labor certifications
  • Family-sponsored green cards
  • Humanitarian immigration options
