Jim is a seasoned attorney with over two decades of experience in complex and multijurisdictional commercial real estate and finance transactions.
As Co-Chair of Bernstein Shur’s Real Estate Practice Group, he represents businesses, investors, developers, and financial institutions in a broad range of real estate-related matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, sale-leaseback transactions, and real estate joint ventures. Jim is also experienced in all aspects of commercial finance, including asset-based lending. His clients span various industries, such as affordable housing, financial services, medical office, and recreational campground.
My role is to simplify the complex, anticipate challenges before they arise, and deliver practical, business-minded solutions that move deals forward. Clients count on me not just for legal advice, but for trusted partnership every step of the way.

Who he is off the clock
Outside of his legal practice, Jim is actively involved in his community. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of New Hampshire’s Franklin Pierce School of Law, teaching Business Transactions. Jim is a proud member of the Leadership New Hampshire Class of 2020. He is passionate about supporting vulnerable populations. He currently serves on the board of directors for the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund. He previously served on the boards of New Hampshire Legal Assistance and the Legal Advice and Referral Center, was appointed by the New Hampshire Supreme Court to serve on the Access to Justice Commission and served as a member of the New Hampshire Campaign for Legal Services Steering Committee.
