Maine employers need to be sure the new minimum wage posters issued by the State of Maine are posted as of January 1, 2026.
What are the requirements for posting?
The newest posters should be in a conspicuous place in all workplaces. For employees who work exclusively remotely, employers may distribute the poster electronically as long as electronic communication is the standard method of workplace information sharing and the employee has access to the information at any time. For instance, you could post it on an intranet, as long as you make the employee aware it is there and they can access it at any time.
In addition, employers with employees in Portland also need to post the new minimum wage poster specific to the city.
Where can I find the 2026 posters?
The State poster can be found on the Maine DOL website: click here, scroll to State of Maine Required Posters, expand Minimum Wage Posters, scroll to 2026 and choose relevant language-specific poster links for access to PDFs.
The Portland poster can be found on the city’s website: choose 2026 Minimum Wage Notice in English or Spanish.
What else should I do?
It is recommended that employers review all of their posters at the beginning of each year to ensure they are all available and up to date. Remember, the posters don’t have to be fancy (i.e. laminated and in color); you can print and use them directly from the websites as is.
