Bernstein Shur attorneys Anne-Marie Storey and Paige Eggleston will present at the Maine Municipal Association 2026 Municipal HR & Management Conference on Wednesday, June 17, sharing guidance on two of the most pressing issues facing today’s employers.
Paige will present “Understanding Loudermill Rights: Balancing Due Process in Employee Discipline and Best Practices,” a session designed to help employers navigate the legal requirements surrounding pre-disciplinary hearings. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of Loudermill rights, how to conduct compliant pre-disciplinary meetings, and best practices for documentation, communication, and decision-making that support fair and defensible disciplinary actions.
Anne-Marie will lead “Reasonable vs. Unreasonable Accommodations: Understanding the Line,” an interactive seminar focused on the complexities of accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The session will explore how to identify accommodation requests, engage in the interactive process, address the intersection of accommodations and employee discipline, and evaluate issues involving service animals and other workplace accommodations.
