Bernstein Shur is pleased to welcome Jonathan “Jon” Fox to the firm’s Business Practice Group as a Senior Associate.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, Jon joins Bernstein Shur with significant experience representing buyers, sellers, private equity investors, and portfolio companies in mergers and acquisitions and other complex business transactions. During his career, he has advised clients on more than 35 transactions with an aggregate value exceeding $1.4 billion, spanning manufacturing, software, financial services, healthcare, transportation and logistics, and other industries.

Most recently, Jon served as a Senior Managing Associate in the M&A and Private Equity group at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP, where he counseled private equity investors and strategic acquirers, led transaction execution, managed diligence processes, and supported portfolio companies on corporate governance matters. Previously, he practiced at FBT Gibbons, advising businesses on mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, corporate governance, and related business matters. Jon earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his B.A. in Public Administration from Miami University.

While based in Ohio, Jon will become licensed in Maine and will support clients across a broad range of corporate, M&A, and private equity matters while working closely with attorneys throughout Bernstein Shur’s Business Practice Group.

“Demand for sophisticated transactional counsel continues to grow, and clients increasingly expect experienced deal teams that can help them navigate complex acquisitions, investments, and strategic transactions efficiently and effectively,” said Chris Dargie, co-leader of Bernstein Shur’s Business Practice Group. “Jon brings exactly the kind of experience, judgment, and collaborative approach that strengthens our ability to serve clients. His addition meaningfully expands the depth of our M&A and private equity team, and we’re excited about the opportunities ahead.”

Kaveri Subbarao Nauhaus, Bernstein Shur’s Chief Executive Officer, noted that Jon’s arrival reflects the firm’s continued commitment to growth and attracting exceptional talent.

“Our roots are firmly planted in Northern New England, but our ability to attract outstanding lawyers is not limited by geography,” said Kaveri. “As the legal industry continues to evolve, we are committed to finding exceptional talent wherever that talent may be located. Jon’s experience, entrepreneurial mindset, and commitment to collaboration make him an outstanding addition to Bernstein Shur, and we’re excited to welcome him to the firm.”

Beyond his legal practice, Jon is active in his community as a youth soccer coach with the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks program and has served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County, Ohio.

Jon’s addition reflects Bernstein Shur’s continued investment in strengthening its corporate, M&A, and private equity capabilities.
