Bernstein Shur, a leading New England law firm, is proud to announce the enhancement of its Labor and Employment Practice Group with four key hires and new leadership appointments. These moves reinforce the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional legal services to public and private employers across Maine, New Hampshire, and beyond.
Strengthening the Team
Bernstein Shur has recruited top talent to bolster its practice:
- Anne-Marie L. Storey joined the firm’s Portland office as Senior Counsel on September 23, bringing more than two decades of experience in employment law and a reputation for practical, client-centered counsel. Anne-Marie earned her law degree cum laude from Vermont Law School in 1995 and has since built a respected career advising and defending employers across Maine. Known for her candid, strategic approach, she has successfully handled complex cases, including the landmark Bourgoin v. Twin Rivers Paper Company decision before Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court. She is consistently recognized by Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, and is a frequent speaker at HR and legal education events. Deeply committed to community service, Anne-Marie was named the 2022 Bangor Chamber Volunteer of the Year and actively supports organizations like the Bangor YMCA, The Grand Theatre, and Meals on Wheels. Her arrival at Bernstein Shur further strengthens the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, bringing a rare blend of legal insight, community leadership, and client-centered advocacy.
- Paige Eggleston joined the firm as an Associate in the Portland office. Paige grew up in Maine and a notable through-line in her professional career includes work in the public sector. She brings extensive experience from her prior roles working for Senator Susan Collins and various governmental entities. Before joining Bernstein Shur, Paige spent several years practicing both labor & employment law and municipal law at a mid-sized firm in Portland. Her practice continues to focus on employee discipline, collective bargaining, disability and leave matters, litigation, and delivering practical solutions for municipal and private clients. An active member of her community, Paige currently serves on UMaine Board of Visitors and as Chair of the Maine State Bar Association’s New Lawyers Section.
- Jim Armillay joined the Manchester office as an Associate. A skilled litigator, Jim’s background includes clerking for the prestigious U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and handling complex business, employment, and appellate matters in both state and federal courts. He regularly represents businesses and professional license holders in administrative proceedings before state agencies and licensing boards. Jim brings his varied litigation and administrative experience to bear in providing solutions-based, mission-driven advice and counsel to his clients across a range of diverse industries, including healthcare, hospitality, and non-profit organizations.
- Naomi Butterfield returned to the firm as Of Counsel in the Manchester office. Previously Merrimack County’s first in-house legal counsel and an Assistant Attorney General in both Colorado and New Hampshire, Naomi offers deep expertise in labor and employment law, strengthening the firm’s counsel for public and private clients.
New Leadership to Drive Success
Hilary Rheaume in New Hampshire and Glenn Israel in Maine stepped into the Labor & Employment Practice Group Leadership roles earlier this year, continuing to strengthen the team’s cross-state connection and deepening the firm’s commitment to clients across Northern New England.
