One of the most effective lobbyists in Augusta, James combines his passions with his profession. An avid outdoorsman, he’s an expert on Maine’s natural resources and a strong advocate for conservation. He’s also one of the foremost experts in the state on energy and utility policy and the complex issues facing an industry trying to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing – and electrifying – world.

A Republican with strong connections on both sides of the political aisle, James is respected for his straight talk, his hard work, and his ability to bring people together for commonsense solutions. He translates your ideas into solutions.

James recently completed a three-year term on the Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission. Appointed by Governor Janet Mills and unanimously confirmed by the Maine Senate, James helped Maine to successfully navigate a historic time in tribal-state relations.

A conservationist, hunter, and fisherman, James put his political skills to work in 2014 when he led a broad coalition to victory against a ballot initiative that would have ended Maine’s successful policies around bear hunting, threatened Maine’s leading bear conservation programs, and cost hundreds of Maine guides their livelihoods.

James is a good friend to have, in part because of the good friends he has. He’s a trusted confidant for political leaders of all political stripes and someone who is counted on to tell the hard truth and solve tough problems.
