Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with him.

Chris wrote the book on commercial lending—literally. He co-authored The Maine Commercial Lending Handbook, the state’s only book-length guide to commercial lending. For more than 25 years, he has provided informed counsel to both borrowers and lenders in financing matters of all types, from private placements to construction loans. He is also experienced in a wide variety of real estate matters, including subsidized housing, condominiums, and commercial leasing.

In recognition of his work in both real estate and commercial financing, Chris was elected a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Chris has completed National Association of Development Companies course to qualify as SBA 504 Designated Attorney. He has taught commercial lending law at the University of Maine School of Law and frequently shares his expertise in speaking engagements and various publications.

But that’s not all. Chris is also very experienced in:

  • Letters of credit and other credit enhancements
  • Loan restructurings
  • Real estate and personal property secured lending
  • Unsecured and asset-based credit facilities
  • Intercreditor arrangements

In his former life, Chris was:

  • Managing counsel at Unum Group, where he led the legal team responsible for Unum’s $45 billion investment portfolio
  • Practicing with Verrill Dana, LLP

When Chris isn’t working, he is…

Spending time with his wife and three children, as well as serving as a member of the Portland Public Art Committee. Chris is also a longtime piano player and a voracious reader.
