Bernstein Shur Welcomes Attorney Alysia Melnick

Portland and Augusta, ME, and Manchester NH (June 5, 2016) – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, welcomes attorney Alysia Melnick to the firm’s Legislative and Political Law Practice Group in the Portland, ME office.

Melnick’s practice will primarily focus on campaign strategy and compliance as well as advising and lobbying on local, state and national policies in conjunction with The Bernstein Shur Group, a public affairs and government relations subsidiary led by David Farmer, the group’s managing director. She has experience advising stakeholders and lawmakers in areas including drug policy, criminal justice, aging, education, environment, healthcare, and the protection of civil rights and liberties. In addition, her background includes drafting legislation, negotiating and lobbying objectives and advising on broad legal and political strategy.

Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Melnick served as legal counsel and senior policy adviser for the Office of the Speaker of the ME House of Representatives as well as working for a variety of local non-profit organizations, including the ACLU of ME. Melnick earned her J.D. at Northeastern University School of Law, her B.A. from Tufts University and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern ME. She resides in Portland, ME with her family.
