Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (August 17, 2016) – Bernstein Shur, one of New England’s leading law firms, announced the formation of its Food and Beverage Industry Group.  The group is comprised of a team of attorneys, providing industry entrepreneurs with legal counsel from start-up through late-stage growth and exit.

Jim Keenan, Chair of Bernstein Shur’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, noted that the group provides advice on all aspects of the food and beverage industry, both locally and nationally.  This includes regulatory compliance, licensing and certifications, supply and distribution contracting, real estate development, debt and equity capital raising, employment matters and intellectual property protection. The group currently represents a wide range of clients, from farmers to food producers, brewers and distillers to coffee roasters, distributors and retailers to restaurants, as well as food and beverage guilds and associations.

“We’ve been a leading provider of legal services to the food and beverage industry for decades,” Keenan said. “We felt it was time to formalize our group as a resource in this highly regulated industry. Starting and growing a business in this space is complicated, and we’re here to simplify things and help our clients focus on their passion and on doing what they do best.”
