Bernstein Shur Attorney Kate Knox Honored as Partner in Pride

Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced that Kate Knox was honored as the 2014 Partner in Pride by the ME Democratic Party. The honor signifies Knox’s tireless advocacy for equality for all Mainers.

Representative Matt Moonen presented Knox with the award and commented on her work with ME Democratic Party and EqualityME. “Thanks to Kate’s leadership and strategic thinking, we have made remarkable strides toward full equality here in ME,” said Moonen. “She is the kind of person who makes me want to work harder not to let her down, because I know she’s not going to let me down.” It is her second time receiving this honor.

Kate Knox, shareholder, is a member of the Legislative and Political Law Practice Group. Her practice focuses on lobbying, campaign compliance and election law. Knox advises clients on all aspects of campaign finance laws, including government ethics requirements, political action committee formation and governance, ballot question campaigns, and she drafts legislation and administrative rules. She also represents a wide variety of clients before the ME State Legislature.

A resident of Portland, ME, Knox is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for her work in government relations. She is a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers, the National Association of Social Workers and is an adjunct professor at University of Maine School of Law. Knox earned her JD from University of Maine School of Law, her MSW from University of ME School of Social Work, and her BS from Skidmore College.
