Bernstein Shur Announces New Shareholders for 2015

Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced the election of new shareholders: Mary E. Costigan, Caleb C.B. DuBois, Asha A. Echeverria and Kai W. McGintee.

Mary Costigan

Mary Costigan is a member of the Municipal and Environmental Practice Groups. She represents municipalities and private clients in matters involving environmental and land use permitting including subdivision and site plan review, wind power development, storm water management, natural resource protection, site location of development and shoreland zoning. She serves as town counsel to several municipalities and also represents private clients before various local and state boards, including planning boards, zoning boards, town councils and select boards, and the ME Board of Environmental Protection.

A resident of Portland, ME, Costigan earned her JD from Vermont Law School, her MS from Vermont Law School and her BA from the University of Delaware. She is the chair of the ME State Bar Association Environmental and Energy Law Section.

 

Caleb DuBois

Caleb DuBois

Caleb DuBois is a member of the Business Law Practice Group and the Financial Services and Securities Law Group. His practice includes involvement in a broad range of business and securities regulatory counseling, and providing advice on all stages of business development, including public and private capital raising, business transactions, corporate governance, and formation issues. In his financial services and securities law practice, DuBois focuses on providing guidance on the federal securities laws, SEC regulations, and fiduciary obligations to capital markets and financial services industry participants, with an emphasis on the investment management industry.

A resident of North Yarmouth, ME, DuBois earned his JD from Northeastern University School of Law and his AB from Bowdoin College. He has been an active board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern ME since 2010.

 

Asha Echeverria

Asha Echeverria

Asha Echeverria is a member of the Construction Law and Energy and Environmental Practice Groups. She handles a variety of claims involving insurance, energy, construction and general commercial matters. In her insurance practice, she counsels clients through insurance reviews as part of their risk management analysis, and assists clients in the purchase of appropriate policies and endorsements, including data security policies. As a licensed professional engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, she is heavily involved in construction matters in complex construction litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, lien and bond claims, defect claims and contract disputes.

A resident of Cumberland, ME, Echeverria earned her JD from The George Washington University Law School and her BSE from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a board member of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and the USGBC ME Chapter and is an active member of the ABA Forum on Construction Law.

 

Kai McGintee

Kai McGintee

Kai McGintee is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group and Education Law Group. Her practice includes counseling and training employers on a broad range of workplace issues and she has a special focus representing colleges, universities and private secondary schools on both employment and education law matters. She routinely litigates cases before administrative agencies, as well as in state and federal court. She also conducts workplace and Title IX investigations for employers and educational institutions.

A resident of Yarmouth, ME, McGintee earned her JD from the University of Maine School of Law and her BA from Davidson College. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the Association of Workplace Investigators.
