International Transactions

The International Practice Group has an established track record of successes in a variety of areas generally considered international or multi-national in scope. Whether litigating a commercial dispute in Indonesia, negotiating a distribution agreement in Belgium, assisting a corporate client with the establishment of its Mexican subsidiary, or applying for work visas for computer programmers from India, the group is able to assist in most areas of business-related international law. The International Practice Group represents clients throughout the world and its members regularly travel abroad to work on projects in-country. Our lawyers have developed international legal expertise in their respective areas of practice, having advised foreign governments and cultivated valuable contacts in many regions of the world. Some of the attorneys within the group regularly conduct business in foreign languages, as well as English. The firm’s business consultancy subsidiary TechVentures Group, LLC maintains an office in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The group’s attorneys assist U.S. companies in licensing technologies, protecting intellectual property interests, acquiring foreign companies, and establishing distribution and sales networks through out-bound transactions. We also provide tax, corporate, immigration and general commercial advice to foreign entities seeking to develop increased presence in North America, whether by establishment of a subsidiary, formation of a joint venture or licensing agreement with a U.S. company. The group’s attorneys also support the immigration needs of a great number of companies transitioning foreign personnel into the workplace. We regularly process IB, L and E visa requests. We also process clients for permanent residence based relationship to a U.S. family member or an offer of permanent employment from employer.
