Peter Rubin Named Leading U.S. Lawyer in Lawdragon 500 for Second Year
March 22, 2011

Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced today that the firm’s President and Shareholder, Peter J. Rubin, has – for the second year in a row – been recognized as one of the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America.  Rubin is once again the only attorney in Maine named to the prestigious list, as occurred in 2010.

The 500 attorneys selected by Lawdragon, the nation’s leading online legal media company, represent less than 1 percent of the legal profession in America. LawDragon’s selection process is a unique combination of online balloting and independent research, which involves contacting thousands of legal professionals for peer reviews on the top practitioners in practice specialties and regions nationwide.

Rubin was chosen as one of the leading litigators in the country and is described by Lawdragon as having “earned his reputation as Maine’s mass tort master.”

“Peter Rubin continues to demonstrate leadership in the practice field of litigation and is known for his skill at handling complex litigation matters with superior client service and positive results.  We are proud of his accomplishments on behalf of Bernstein Shur and the clients that we represent,” said Charles E. Miller, the firm’s managing shareholder.

In addition to his role as president of the firm, Peter Rubin is the senior member of Bernstein Shur’s Litigation Practice Group. Rubin has been recognized by Best Lawyer in America for more than 20 years for his expertise in 12 practice areas, including business litigation, personal injury litigation, construction law, and mass tort litigation. He is also published in the Harvard University and Maine Law Reviews.

A Maine native, Rubin clerked for the Honorable Edward T. Gignoux, U.S. District Court in Maine, before joining Bernstein Shur in 1971. He received his JD at Harvard Law School in 1970, graduating magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University in 1967.
