Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced today that shareholder and attorney Lester F. (Les) Wilkinson has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook, Maine.
Spring Harbor Hospital provides Maine’s most complete range of treatment programs for people of all ages who are recovering from mental illness. Spring Harbor also is Maine’s only short-term inpatient treatment site for youth who experience both acute mental illness and developmental disorders, such as autism. As a nonprofit organization, Spring Harbor Hospital is community-owned and governed.
“We are looking forward to working with Les,” said Spring Harbor Hospital Board of Trustees President David Lakari. “He comes with an impressive background, a unique perspective and a great sense of enthusiasm for Spring Harbor Hospital’s mission to offer people in mental health crisis high-quality, individualized treatment to support their ongoing recovery.”
A resident of Augusta, Maine, Wilkinson is member of Bernstein Shur’s real estate and business law practice groups. He formerly served as board chair of Maine General Health Associates and The Children’s Center and is a past president of the Maine State Bar Association. Wilkinson currently serves on the Augusta Board of Trade.
“At a time when the parameters of our health care system are rapidly changing, the care and welfare of patients must remain our first priority,” said Wilkinson. “I care deeply about the population served by Spring Harbor Hospital and look forward to supporting the hospital’s efforts as they continue to provide outstanding care and services to those in need of treatment for mental illness.”
Wilkinson received his J.D. from University of San Diego Law School in 1981 and his B.A. from Bates College in 1978. He has taught real estate law at the University of Maine at Augusta and been a presenter of continuing legal education programs for both the MSBA and the Maine Association of Realtors.
