Portland, Maine, October 12, 2011 – Eight attorneys from Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, have been selected by their peers as “Lawyers of the Year” in The Best Lawyers in America® 2012*, the preeminent referral guide to the nation’s top attorneys.
Published annually since 1983, Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers.
The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” received particularly high ratings in surveys by earning a high level of respect for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.
Six Bernstein Shur attorneys were chosen as 2012 Lawyers of the Year for Portland, Maine, an honor shared by a total of 44 attorneys for that city and state. They include:
– George F. Burns of Falmouth for Construction Law
– Michael A. Fagone of Gorham for Bankruptcy Law
– Gordon F. Grimes of Durham for Energy Law
– Leonard M. Nelson of Falmouth for Corporate Law
– Patrick J. Scully of Brunswick for Administrative/Regulatory Law
– Christopher L. Vaniotis of North Yarmouth for Maine Municipal Law
Two Bernstein Shur attorneys were selected as Lawyers of the Year for Manchester, NH, a distinction bestowed upon only 17 Manchester attorneys. They are:
– Andrea K. Johnstone of Hopkinton for Labor Law-Management
– Gregory E. Michael of Manchester for Land Use & Zoning Law and Litigation
