Bernstein Shur’s Roy Tilsley Appointed Board President for New Horizons for New Hampshire
May 2, 2011

MANCHESTER, NH, May 2, 2011 – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced today that shareholder and attorney Roy Tilsley has been elected president of the board of directors at New Horizons for New Hampshire.

New Horizons is an adult homeless shelter, soup kitchen and food pantry located in Manchester.  In addition to offering food and shelter for those in need, New Horizons provides medical and dental services and addiction counseling for the homeless, while helping them to obtain social services and housing. New Horizons also operates Angie’s, a home-like residence designed to assist homeless women struggling with addiction.

In his role as president of the board, Tilsley will work to ensure that New Horizons continues to provide its comprehensive services for New Hampshire’s neediest citizens. Prior to his appointment as president, Tilsley served as board vice president. In addition to his board responsibilities, he also leads a serving team at the soup kitchen—washing dishes, filling plates and delivering food to tables.

“Roy really puts a lot of time and effort into making sure that we are the best organization we can be,” said Interim Executive Director Kevin Kintner. “He’s dedicated to the issue and committed to the organization, going above and beyond in many different areas over his years of involvement.”

“New Horizons is unique in that it seeks to address not only the immediate circumstances of homeless citizens, but the possible underlying causes of their situations—be it substance abuse, mental health issues or financial constraints,” said Tilsley. “It’s an honor to serve on the board of an organization that I believe strongly in. I look forward to continuing my support in my new role as president.”

A resident of Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, Tilsley is a member of Bernstein Shur’s real estate practice group, focusing on the acquisition, financing, leasing and development of real estate, business transactions and commercial litigation.  Before joining Bernstein Shur, he was a principal of Kelley & Tilsley, P.A. where he practiced with the late William H. Kelley for 12 years.  He received his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1992, cum laude and his B.A. from Tufts University in 1985, cum laude.
