Bernstein Shur Welcomes Three New Employees

Portland, Maine, November 1, 2011 – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, is pleased to announce the addition of three new staff members to the firm’s Portland, Maine office: Associates Laura Ernst and N. Joel Moser and Information Technology Director Matthew Kramer.

Laura Ernst, a resident of Portland, Maine, joined Bernstein Shur’s Business Law Practice Group. Her practice focuses on intellectual property and technology; she works with clients to provide expertise on trademark and branding issues surrounding developing business and consumer technologies.

Ernst received her J.D. in 2011 from Boston University School of Law. She earned her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Central Michigan University in 2007 where she was a Centralis Scholar studying business administration. While in law school, Ernst was a member of the American Journal of Law and Medicine.

N. Joel Moser, a resident of Portland, Maine, is now a member of the firm’s Municipal and Regulatory Practice Groups. His practice focuses on assisting clients in complex regulatory matters before the Maine Public Utilities Commission, property taxation, assessment appeals, Maine’s Tree Growth Tax Law and general municipal law.

Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Moser served as law clerk to the Honorable Leigh I. Saufley, chief justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He earned his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 2010, where he graduated first in his class. He earned a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, Fels Institute of Government in 2008. He also holds an A.B. from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2004 with a dual major in German and government/legal studies.

Matthew Kramer, a resident of Falmouth, Maine, joined the firm as information technology director. Kramer is a professional with 15 years of expertise in the IT industry and will manage IT infrastructure and direction for the firm.

Kramer formerly served as manager of systems engineering at Boston University and worked as a systems programmer/engineer for Liaison International, Inc., in Watertown, Massachusetts. He holds a B.S. in computer science from Boston University.
