May 25, 2010

Portland, Maine, May 25, 2010 – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced today that the firm’s President and Shareholder, Peter Rubin, has been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America. He is the only attorney in Maine named to the prestigious list.

The 500 attorneys selected by Lawdragon, the nation’s leading online legal media company, are the best of the best, representing less than one percent of all attorneys in the United States. Chosen for their sustained excellence and role in defining American law, the 2010 list includes corporate attorneys, litigators, in-house counsel, law professors, judges, government attorneys, and public interest lawyers.

“Peter J. Rubin, also named to the Lawdragon 500 in 2007, continues to shine as one of the leading litigators in the country,” according to Katrina Dewey, CEO and Publisher of Lawdragon, Inc.  “He is consistently selected by corporate counsel to handle their most difficult matters and is recognized by his peers as one of the nation’s finest litigators. He is also noteworthy for his continued leadership of one of the region’s finest law firms, Bernstein Shur.”

In addition to serving as president of the firm, Peter Rubin is the senior member of Bernstein Shur’s Litigation Practice Group. He is published in the Harvard University and Maine Law Reviews. Rubin has also been recognized by Best Lawyer in America for more than 20 years, and he is listed in 12 different areas, including business litigation, personal injury litigation, construction law, and mass tort litigation.

A Maine native, Rubin clerked for the Honorable Edward T. Gignoux, U.S. District Court in Maine, before joining Bernstein Shur in 1971. He received his JD at Harvard Law School in 1970, graduating magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University in 1967. Member, Harvard Law Review.
