Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced that George F. Burns and Michael R. Bosse have co-authored a book, Building the Construction Case: A Blueprint for Litigators, published by the American Bar Association and intended for worldwide circulation.

Building the Construction Case: A Blueprint for Litigators is a roadmap for litigators, guiding them from the first meeting with a client through the end of a case. The lessons of the book apply to all types of construction projects, from a simple porch addition to a bridge or a power plant. Burns and Bosse placed an emphasis in the book on practice and methodology and convey how construction litigation actually plays out on a day-to-day basis.

“We hope this book will offer a practical benefit to members of the construction industry, both construction law specialists as well as non-lawyers” said George Burns. “We have been proud to be lawyers in this industry and to work with so many clients who have successfully navigated and completed great projects over their careers. We have learned a great deal from the industry and from judges and dispute resolution professionals and felt the time had come to share that experience with the industry and the legal community.”

George Burns is a member of Bernstein Shur’s Construction, Litigation, and Dispute Resolution Groups and serves on the firm’s Board of Directors. Burns’s trial and appellate experience is extensive, including numerous construction cases involving schools, water and sewage treatment plants, power plants, recreational facilities, bridges and boats. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America, recognized as a New England Super Lawyer for construction law and is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Burns is admitted to practice in ME, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York. He is a resident of Falmouth, ME.

Michael Bosse is the chair of Bernstein Shur’s Construction Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Litigation Group and Data Security Team. He represents all facets of the construction industry, from developers to general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, from project inception, through contract negotiations, and if necessary, to claims and litigation. He litigates construction matters in state and federal courts primarily in ME, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and in private arbitrations and arbitrations with the American Arbitration Association. He is a frequent lecturer to the ME construction industry and has clients throughout New England. Bosse is listed in Best Lawyers in America for construction law and rated by AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Bosse is admitted to practice in ME, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He is a resident of Scarborough, ME.
