Litigation Legal Assistant

We are seeking a litigation legal assistant to assist a group of attorneys in their busy Public Utilities Commission (PUC)/Municipal & Regulatory practice group. This is a unique position that not only requires traditional legal assistant skills but also an individual with high degree of initiative and foresight. We are looking for a candidate with a smart entrepreneurial spirit who wants to be on the ground floor of a booming practice within the firm.

The position requires advanced Microsoft Office Word and Excel skills with the ability to take numerous volumes of documents, discovery and information and create working spreadsheets in Excel. Must be familiar with electronic filing and have the ability to work in a document management system. The right candidate will be very analytical, have a keen attention to detail, enjoy research, and gathering data to formulate information for easy review. Must enjoy learning and taking on new challenges as they occur.  Knowledge of accounting is helpful with municipal tax valuation projects. 

Traditional requirements are knowledge of litigation procedure, familiarity with ME (NH a plus) court systems, preparing pleadings, calendaring, scheduling, proof reading, document production (including Excel documents) and case management.  Must enjoy a fast pace, have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.  

This position reports to two or more attorneys along with one paralegal. Team work is essential to the success of this position. A sense of humor is mandatory.
