Patricia Peard is the chair of the firm’s Education Law Group and a member of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group and Litigation Group. She is also a member of Bernstein Shur’s board of directors.
Pat practices in all areas of employment and labor law and counsels management in compliance issues under state and federal law, including the ADA, Title VII, and Title IX. Her practice has a special emphasis on the needs of colleges, universities and private secondary schools. Pat has spoken extensively on these issues, including FERPA, admission policies, contract compliance, legal issues for advisors and teachers, tenure standards, bullying and sexual harassment.
Prior to practicing law, Pat was a member of the history department at Philips Exeter Academy.
Pat’s clients include the University of Maine System, the Maine College of Art, the University of New England, the Maine Association of Independent Schools, and several private secondary schools.
Pat is recognized by Best Lawyers in America for her work in labor and employment law and education law. She is rated AV pre-eminent by Martindale-Hubbell.
