Bernstein Shur attorney Arnold Macdonald was recently elected president of the Maine Bar Foundation.
Macdonald, a South Freeport resident, is a Bernstein Shur shareholder and member of the firm’s Business Law, Construction, and Real Estate Practice Groups. He provides counsel to small and mid-sized businesses, in matters related to formation, finance, intellectual property, real estate, mergers, acquisition, and private stock placements. His finance experience includes conduit finance and subsidized housing transactions. He also advises contractors, subcontractors, owners, and suppliers on construction and mechanics’ lien law, including insurance and insurance coverage of construction disputes.
Macdonald served as Chair of the Maine State Bar Association’s Business Law Section in 2005 and 2006. He is also a member of Associated Contractors of Maine, Construction Financial Managers’ Association, and a past president of the Freeport Conservation Trust.
“We are extremely proud of Arnie’s dedication to ensuring access to legal services for all of Maine’s residents, “ said Charles Miller, Bernstein Shur’s managing shareholder. “Arnie exemplifies commitment to improving our communities through pro bono legal services and volunteer work.”
The Bar Foundation is Maine's only statewide nonprofit organization devoted exclusively to law-related charitable work. As the philanthropic arm of the private bar in Maine, it is one of nearly 200 such organizations in the U.S. and Canada established to increase access to justice for indigent and vulnerable populations, and to support, encourage, and implement the legal profession's commitment to law-related public service. The Foundation also supports programs designed to improve the quality and scope of legal education in law schools, scholarly research on law-related subjects, programs of law reform, and law libraries.
