PORTLAND, Maine – Dana A. Lukens and Edward C. Lawrence, prominent financial services and securities industry attorneys, have joined Bernstein Shur in its Portland office. Lukens is a shareholder, and Lawrence will serve as Of Counsel.
At Bernstein Shur, Lukens and Lawrence will focus their practices on representing financial services and other firms and capital markets participants in general business, regulatory, compliance, enforcement, and transactional matters. Lukens will join Scot Draeger as a co-Practice Leader for its Securities and Financial Services Industry Group.

Before joining Bernstein Shur, Lukens was a Managing Director and Counsel for Citigroup. Lukens supported Citi's Global Transaction Services (GTS) business and was the senior lawyer responsible for the Securities and Fund Services business within GTS.
Lukens joined Citigroup in 2003. Prior to that he was General Counsel for Forum Financial Group and Clareon Corporation, both financial services firms based in Portland, Maine. Before moving to Maine he was associated with Hunton & Williams (New York) and Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault (Boston), where he concentrated on commercial, IP and complex transactions for public and private companies and venture capital firms.
Lukens received his J.D. in 1990 from the Boston University School of Law, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Annual Review of Banking Law. He received his BA in 1984 from Bates College, with honors. He resides in Cumberland, Maine.
Lawrence was a Senior Vice President and Counsel for Citigroup since 2004 and was the primary attorney responsible for legal matters concerning mutual funds in the Fund Services business unit. Before Citigroup, Lawrence was Assistant Counsel at I-many, Inc. and a Fund Administrator for Forum Financial Group, both based in Portland, Maine.
Lawrence received his J.D. in 1994 from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his BA in Government and International Relations from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. He resides in Topsham, Maine.
