Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England's largest multi-service law firms, welcomes two new associates, Eben Albert-Knopp and Jeremy Fischer, to its practice.
Eben Albert-Knopp has joined the Litigation Practice Group, and will focus his practice on general litigation matters. Albert-Knopp is a 2008 magna cum laude graduate of Vermont Law School, where he served as an editor of the Vermont Law Review. Albert-Knopp’s note entitled "The California Gas Charge and Beyond: Taxes and Fees in a Changing Climate" was published in Vol. 32, Book 1 of the Vermont Law Review.
Albert-Knopp spent a year studying French and European business law at the Université de Cergy-Pontoise in France. He received academic recognition for having some of the highest grades of any student—French or American—in that university’s legal program.
A resident of Portland, Albert-Knopp holds a BA from the College of the Atlantic, in Bar Harbor, Maine. He is originally from Readfield, Maine, and graduated from Maranacook High School in 1998.
Jeremy Fischer has joined the Litigation and Business Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Groups. His practice focuses primarily on representing debtors and creditors in pre-bankruptcy matters and Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings, as well as general litigation in both state and federal courts. Fischer is a 2008 summa cum laude graduate of The University of Maine School of Law, where he served as editor of the Maine Law Review.
Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, Fischer worked as an independent insurance agent and served three terms in the Maine House of Representatives, where he was the Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.
A resident of Portland, Fischer holds a BA from the University of Michigan. He was a summa cum laude graduate, Rhodes Scholarship Competition semi-finalist, and William Jennings Bryan Award winner for top undergraduate political science student. Fischer is originally from Presque Isle, Maine, and graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1998.
