Asha is a dispute resolution lawyer who handles a variety of claims involving insurance, energy, construction, banking, and general commercial matters. She is a member of Bernstein Shur's Construction Law and Energy and Environmental practice groups.
Asha’s energy clients include owners of power plants in disputes with suppliers, manufacturers, and insurers. She has worked on large complex claims involving hydroelectric and thermal power plants throughout a wide geographic area from New England to the Caribbean.
As a licensed professional engineer (PE) and LEED Accredited Professional, Asha is heavily involved in construction matters representing contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners in complex construction litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, lien claims, defect claims, and contract disputes. Asha is a frequent lecturer in the construction industry in Maine
Asha also represents clients, including her construction and energy clients, as insurance coverage counsel in matters involving CGL, property, and directors and officers’ policies. Asha has been involved in assisting clients in seeking significant recoveries under property insurance policies insuring hydroelectric turbines and fishing vessels valued at over half a million dollars. Asha has also successfully litigated coverage issues with insurance companies, including claims under Maine’s Unfair Settlement Practices Act. Asha is an active lecturer on insurance matters in Maine.
Prior to law school as a civil engineer with Parsons Brinckerhoff, Asha designed and coordinated various multi-million dollar construction and demolition projects, as well as state and federal transportation and highway safety projects. While at The George Washington University Law School, Asha was a Thurgood Marshall scholar.
